GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
Antibacterial agents for systemic administration. Aminoglycosides. Gentamicin. ATC code J01G B03.
Indications to Use:
Taking into account a limited margins of safety of gentamicin, it should be used in cases where microorganisms are resistant to safer antibiotics.
Gentamicin must be prescribed for treatment of infections caused by pathogens susceptible to it, including:
• septicemia (including neonatal sepsis)
• complicated urogenital infectious diseases
• infectious diseases of the lower respiratory tract;
• infectious diseases of the skin, bones, joints, soft tissue, infected burn wounds;
• infectious diseases of the central nervous system (including meningitis) in combination with β-lactam antibiotics
• infection of the abdominal cavity (including peritonitis).
